The European Parliament adopted its economic, social and single market priorities for 2016 on the 25th February 2016 in three separate resolutions.

Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) emphasised the need to strengthen the social dimension of the European Semester with better National follow up of the Country Specific Recommendations and ensuring sustainable and fair welfare systems which reduce social inequalities. MEPs advanced the need for an EU definition of “social fairness”.
